Fairey Huntsman 28 hull 104 ref 180
Huntsman 28 Hull number 104
Reassembly project
Length: 28' 10"
Beam: 8' 9"
Depth: 2 '8"
Built approx 1971
A standard Fairey Huntsman 28ft Twin Screw diesel powerboat, is a lengthened Ray Hunt design Fairey Huntress 23ft the single screw version.
Fairey Marine of Hamble built just over 100 Huntsman 28's in the 1960's and the last around 1970. Hull number 104 is towards the end of production, which had become well standardised by this time.
The Huntsman 28 has twin berths in the fore cabin with a separate loo compartment to starboard and a galley area opposite to port with stainless sink and fresh water.
Stowage is ample below the bunks and in a foreword locker. Inserts maybe placed in the central area between the bunks to make a double berth.
The classic Fairey open cockpit gives the feeling of being afloat and in the open sea or the spray hood used to give shelter underway or extending the cabin whilst moored.
Machinery
Twin Ford Sabres of 180/210HP which are recorded as being rebuilt in 2004 by the previous owner, standard arrangement of Borg Warner 72C velvet drive gearboxes, to SS shafts.
New fuel tank of approx. 110 galls.
To-day
The current owner has performed the lions share or most difficult & costly part of a total refurbishment as can be seen from the photographs. To the right person she will make a most enjoyable reassembly project and a very sound classic Fairey.
Viewing at Eastbourne is recommended, but only to serious buyers who understand the merits of a Fairey in this condition, so owning a 'cracking Fairey' after assembly is finished with all new services.
